Piaget believed that children made moral judgments based on their own observations of the world.

Piaget's theory of morality was radical when his book The Moral Judgment of the Child was published in 1932 for two reasons: his use of philosophical criteria to define morality (as universalizable, generalizable, and obligatory) and his rejection of equating cultural norms with moral norms. Piaget, drawing on Kantian theory, proposed that morality developed out of peer interaction and that it was autonomous from authority mandates. Peers, not parents, were a key source of moral concepts such as equality, reciprocity, and justice.

Histoire 1: Il était une fois un roi sage et juste qui voit un homme creuser un fossé près de la route. Le roi a demandé à l’homme: «Combien gagnez vous pour un tel travail? " " Trois dimes quotidiennes" répondit l'homme. Surpris était le roi et il interrogera : «Trois dimes quotidienne si peu?". L'homme répondi: "Trois dimes par jour, oh oui cher et respectable roi, mais en fait, je ne vit que de un dime par jour, puisque le seconde je le prête et avec le troisième je dois rembourser ce que j’ai emprunté. » Perplexe était le roi et il interrogera: « Comment cela se fait-il ? » L'homme répliqua: «Je rembourse mon père et je prête à mon fils, Seigneur!". Comme le roi était fort satisfait d’une réponse si sage, il fit héritié l’homme de sa propre couronne royale.

Man’s morality is a result of an inductive constructionist process. Input into the process are moral dilemmata or their storylike representations, its output are general patterns allowing to classify as moral or immoral even the dilemmas which were not represented in the initial training corpus. Moral inference process can be simulated by machine learning algorithms and can be based upon detection and extraction of morally relevant features. Supervised or semisupervised approaches should be used by those aiming to simulate parent -> child or teacher -> student information transfer processes in artificial agents. Preexisting models of inference e.g. the grammar inference models in the domain of computational linguistics can be exploited to build a moral induction model. Historical data, mythology or folklore could serve as a basis of the training corpus which could be subsequently significantly extended by a crowdsourcing method exploiting the webbased « Completely Automated Moral Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart ».
